I've already admitted that I consider pizza to be a basic food group, so you'll understand my excitement when, while in LA last week and with the tremedous help of a client with connections, got a last-minute reservation at Pizzeria Mozza.

All I can say is...if you get a chance, go.  You can always sit at the counter or bar without a reservation.  It's absolutely worth it.

I get excited...

About a pizza recommendation, only to realize Stan's traveling and not in DC!

I thought I was finally gonna learn something useful here :-)


I bet it is wonderful

but is it pizza? Pizza is peasant food--simple, crisp crust, spicy tomatoes, good cheese.

Squash blosssoms? Wild nettles? Fennel pollen?

I'm skeptical.

Have you ever tried V&T's, across from St. John the Divine Cathedral near Columbia in NYC? No fennel pollen, but the garlic pizza is amazing.
