Buy seeds or starter plants from your local greenhouse to start your backyard Victory (over recession) garden. You'll support local (regional in our case) labor, AND the home grown vegetables later in the summer will taste terrific, cut your food bill, etc. Any excess produce can be given to grateful neighbors (find elderly neighbors on fixed incomes and share -- they'll love you for it) who are also suffering from food inflation. A win, win, win.
