Captured my sentiments

Mr. Bartlett almost perfectly captures my sentiments.

He states, "My fear is that the US may be in for an extended period of Japan-style stagnation."

Here we have Paul Krugman attempting to convince people that debt is caused by low growth and not the other way around via his graph of the relationship between Japan's growth and debt: http://krugman.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/07/28/japanese-debt-and-growth/ . This graph's findings appear to correlate that debt follows low-growth, at least in Japan's situation.

In my state district in Michigan every one of the five Republicans running to be to the GOP candidate for state representative is a FairTax proponent and the sole Democratic candidate is actually responding to questions on this initiative since the local newspaper of record has made it a stock question. I'm fairly confident all the GOP candidates are economic illiterates, but at least they're raising awareness regarding consumption taxes in general.
