Someone Please Tell Taegan Goddard That Reconciliation Is Not A "Loophole"
Over at Political Wire, the usually bipartisan and absolutely worth-reading Taegan Goddard uses GOP talking points instead of facts to describe budget reconciliation.
Taegan...Reconciliation isn't a "loophole" as you states in your headline. It's actually a provision in the Congressional Budget Act (Public Law 93-344) and a long-established part of federal budget procedures.
Tsk, tsk, tsk.

Reconciliation
It IS a "loophole" when the legislation in question (like the healthcare reform legislation now working its way through the sausage grinder) is far more than budgetary in nature (hence, it's inclusion in the Congressional Budget Act). Reconciliation was never intended to be used as it could be for health care "reform" and that is what makes it a loophole.
Reconciliation
Your education is seriously impaired. Suggest you read Senator Byrd's comments on the reconciliation process. One would also remind you that the sole reason for 93-344 is that our impaired legislators find it impossible to pass a budget bill.
