Sounds Like A Seinfeld Episode, Doesn't It?
Please forgive the lack of posts over the past few days, but virtually all the technology I rely on to do most anything seems to have decided to stop working at the same time.
First, according to my cable provider, the incoming signal on my cable television is either too strong or too weak and somewhere around Saturday afternoon (that's right, just as some of the best football games of the year were starting) I had no acceptable reception. The best the company could do was get a technician to my home this coming Thursday.
Then my internet connection and modem failed. A technician from the same company that provides my cable television has to be sent separately and can't come at the same day and time.
My modem then failed...I think. Won't know for sure until the internet connection is restored.
That was quickly followed by my atomic clock, which is magically connected to the official time kept somewhere by someone, stopping. I assumed it just needed a new battery. But when that didn't work, I started to wonder if the clock was okay but time itself was actually broken.
So I came in to the office today at some riduculous hour (5 am) to get edits on my weekly National Journal column to my editor only to discover that the coffee machine had stopped working over night. It was so early that none of the cofee emporiums had yet opened.
That was when I discovered that my cell phone, which I never turn off, somehow shutdown by itself over night. There were five messages. If I didn't return your call yesterday, please don't take it personally.
And to top it all off, my Beautiful and Talented Wife (The BTW) was away as all this happened.
It could have been worse. The microwave and oven are still working so I could still reheat pizza (I told you the BTW was away, right?).
